The ranks were filled in record time. What started as a bold vision held by Mirko and Peter blossomed into a collective effort of roughly 26 dedicated contributors from everywhere. Today, this page has evolved. It is no longer a call for recruits, but a Roll of Honour.

These are the men and women who gave their time, their talent, and their passion to a common goal. They come from every corner of the globe—from bustling cities to quiet spots of the countryside—and they represent an incredible diversity of professions and backgrounds. Yet, when they picked up their scissors and glue and patience, they were united by a single, shared purpose.
None of this—not the shield wall, not the cavalry, not the sheer, breathtaking sight of this battlefield—would exist without them.
To our contributors: we cannot emphasize enough how much we owe you. You have poured your effort into every base, and in doing so, you have transformed a pile of paper into a piece of history.

In July 2025, when news broke that the Bayeux Tapestry was returning to England, something clicked. As I read the headlines, the narrative began to unfold, and the scattered dots of a vision suddenly aligned: Refight a huge battle.
In July 2025, when news broke that the Bayeux Tapestry was returning to England, something clicked. As I read the headlines, the narrative began to unfold, and the scattered dots of a vision suddenly aligned: Refight a huge battle.

I saw the Tapestry, the impending 960th anniversary of Hastings, and the marvellous Paperboys from Peter Dennis’s 1066 book, and the jigsaw was complete: we had everything we needed to bring history to life." Now I only had to convince the Maestro that this was an epic move.
But a dream of 16,000 (and more) figures on the table cannot be realised by one or two persons alone. It requires a Moot of People, Faces, Names and Friends. When we issued the call on the PaperBoys FaceBook Group, the response was overwhelming. In less than 48 hours 26 dedicated volunteers from across the globe stepped forward, transforming this project from a private dream into a collective unique masterpiece.
This page is dedicated to —the "snippers" and the builders, the crafters and the dreamers. Here, we celebrate the hands that held the scissors and the hearts that shared the passion for a finall comon vision. Below, you will find our growing registry of names, countries, and stories.
We are collecting photos and personal thoughts from every participant to create a massive community collage and a memory album of this incredible journey. Forza Ragazzi!

When Mirko came up with this idea, I can't say I was wildly enthusiastic. It sounded to me like one of those schemes you come up with in the pub and spend the next year regretting. so i thought, before we subject the paperistas to this i’d better make a couple of stands. the experience was much easier than i had imagined.
When Mirko came up with this idea, I can't say I was wildly enthusiastic. It sounded to me like one of those schemes you come up with in the pub and spend the next year regretting. so i thought, before we subject the paperistas to this i’d better make a couple of stands. the experience was much easier than i had imagined.
Four sheets of Norman knights and a few new individuals rolled off the production line in three evenings in front of the TV, and the infantry base was about the same. I loved the result, and so will you.
We will provide downloads and full instructions for the layout of your assigned stand or stands and for the presentation of the figures.
All you need then is some 120G Paper for the Paperboys, and a good pair of detail scissors. We assume you will have the Glue and Mod-Podge already.
Here is your chance to give something back to the PaperBoys adventure and to share in what we hope will be a spectacular landmark moment in the history of paper soldiering. Andiamo!
