Participation Bundle

The H960 BUNDLE has been sent to all members who participated to the event. 28 fantastic people plus all that were present at the Other Partizan on the day of the Event have received the 'Special Bundle' of HASTINGS 960. Soon it will be available to download from the PetersPaperBoys website.

It's Midgard  Mighty Deeds Bashing

Mighty Deeds are the beating heart of Midgard Heroic Battles —the special tokens that let legendary characters pull off actions of jaw-dropping magnitude. And now, the baggies are officially packed!

The Honour Banner Has Arrived

It’s finally here. The official Honour Banner bearing the names of all our brilliant contributors has just touched down at Fort Fieldhead. 

It is a fantastic piece, proudly displaying every single person who poured their time, effort, and passion into making this spectacle a reality.

100 Dice of Death have Arrived at Fort Fieldhead. They will be scattered around the table or into our Beautiful Dice Pools Peter has Designed in 3 different colours. We met at Fort Fieldhead to deploy the Center Section of the Battle of Hastings960 and checked that the Units were Balanced. A month to go ad we eed to tweak and add some small details to show you the final Splendour! Here are a couple of snaps! Enjoy!

The Armies are Muster Ready!

After a tactical chat with James Morris of Midgard Heroic Battles, we realised the French army needed a little extra muscle: 3 more stands of Norman footmen! My fellow contributor Gerard and I stepped up to the cutting mat to answer the call, and I have just finished making the final snips on the last few figures. 

They just need to be based up and shipped off to Fort Fieldhead in time for September 5th. The ranks are swelling, and the battlefield is getting closer by the day!

The Armies are Muster Ready!

James Mogsymakes has just dropped the official army lists (V3) for the two forces clashing on October 11, 2026 at the Other Partizan.
Whether you want to lead the staunch Anglo-Danish shield wall or command the fierce French invaders, both lists are now available to download directly from the Midgard Section of the website.

Fort Fieldhead Centre Assault

On the 5th of September we are playing the Center Section of the Battle.  It would be too long and energy draining to pre-play the full battle so in oder to check that we are doing everything ok we will be focusing on a small part. More Info will follow. Cheers. 

Nottingham Dry Run

We Made the very 1st Dry Run of the Project since its inception back in July 2025 when I connected the dots between the homecoming of the Tapestry, the 960th Anniversary and of course our beloved 1066 PaperBoys.

All the 62 Stands were there and were laid out on the Battlefield, a table roughly 5 meters Long. The Design of the whole structure conceived by Peter Dennis apart from minor adjustments it proved to be spot on. Easily mounted, easily dismounted.

The ever present Gerard Byram was there alongside master designer James Mogsymakes. The Cherry on the Cake was the presence  of the professional photographer Pete Jenkins. Today we had the opportunity to grasp and witness like never before the REAL size of the battle and to write down endless of notes about how to improve the army lists and the look of the field. Pete Jenkins took over 200 photographs of the battlefield and the units.

The Mat sent to us from across the pond by Cigar Box Battle is a top quality playing surface and having it in 1 piece only does make a real difference. Standing before the assembled ranks, the scale of what we have achieved together is truly breathtaking. Bringing this vision to life has been an incredible journey, and it wouldn't have been possible without you. The Snippers, the Crafters, the Dreamers & Friends.

We are counting down the days until October 11th at The Other Partizan in Newark-on-Trent. We truly hope you can make the journey to see your work standing proud on the battlefield, just three days before the 960th anniversary.

The Armies are Almost Completed!

The horizon is darkening as the two great armies of Hastings960 are near completion. We are down to the final preparations, with only a few remaining stands of French Spear Infantry left to finish before this project is ready for the hill. The armies are currently mustering, their ranks swelling as they prepare for the final, legendary push.

We are almost at the breaking point — stay tuned, as the final announcement for the battle is coming soon. Keep your shields locked and your spears ready. Battle On!

From the hills of Italy to the shores of Japan, from Old Virginia to the heart of England—the reinforcements are coming! The ranks are swelling at our headquarters, Fort Fieldhead, as bases pour in from every corner of the globe. Seeing these individual "Labours of Love" converge into a single, massive army is a breathtaking sight. Like a river finding the sea, Project Hastings960 is flowing together with unstoppable momentum. The battle is drawing near. 

The battlefield has Crossed the Atlantic!

From the workshops of Cigar Box Battle in the USA to the command center at FORT FIELD HEAD, the foundation of our history has arrived!

This isn't just a gaming mat; it’s an imposing landscape measuring a massive 4.80 by 2m , 15.5 by 6.5 feet. When we deploy for the HASTINGS960, we’ll be lining up six of classic tables side-by-side to create a truly titanic arena for our three-on-three commander clash.

We must now announce that registration for participation is officially closed. Due to high demand, all available bases and unit assignments for this epic project have now been allocated.

HASTINGS960 Has Taken Off!

The Norman Conquest is proceeding faster than Duke William himself! After launching our "call to arms", the wargaming community responded with incredible enthusiasm.

When we announced our ambition to recreate the Battle of Hastings at a 1-to-1 scale using 16,000 PaperBoys, we knew it was a challenge. What we didn't anticipate was the sheer speed and passion of the wargaming community!

We are happy to confirm that within a staggering 72 hours of posting our proposal, nearly all the necessary figure bases have been claimed by volunteer Master Miniaturists. 

This overwhelmingly positive response ensures that HASTINGS960 is not only happening but is proceeding with incredible momentum and success!

An Idea Takes Shape

On July 10th, 2025, I asked myself a question that changed everything: Can we recreate Hastings figure-for-figure?  To celebrate the upcoming anniversary (960th) and the Tapestry coming to Britain in Summer 2026 we decided to field a massive 16,000-figure engagement. 

By utilising the unique strengths of PaperBoys, we realised we could finally achieve the "infinite" scale required for a 1-to-1 replica.

 What started as a daring idea has evolved into a beautiful, community-driven reality. We are doing what has never been done before!
