Peter Dennis’s Paperboys are high-quality historically accurate miniature figures that you print by photocopying from a book or from a download from Peterspaperboys.com. They are specifically designed for wargames.
The concept gained significant traction back in 2016 when many wargaming trends favoured smaller-scale skirmish games, causing larger army-level wargaming to wane.
Noticing this gap, renowned historical artist Peter Dennis took the matter personally.
In collaboration with Helion & Company, he published the first dedicated PaperBoy book featuring the English Civil War. This launch was a massive success, proving there was a strong appetite for visually spectacular, large-scale battles without the steep cost of traditional miniatures.
Since that first book, the collection has expanded dramatically and found its permanent home at PetersPaperBoys.com. Today, the archive is immense and constantly expanding, covering history from Cavemen to World War Two. There are terrain items and vehicles as well as thousands of figure types, and lots of free ‘have a go’ downloads scattered among the categories.

Wide range of historical coverage. From Paleo to Paratroops. 54mm, 28mm, 18mm and 10mm for Epic Battles!
By engaging with history on the tabletop, players and students gain a tangible, visual understanding of historical conflicts that textbooks often cannot provide.
The process of assembling the accurate, detailed miniatures—from the distinctive Norman conical helmets to the Anglo-Saxon chainmail—forces a close look at the equipment, uniforms, and formation of armies.
Furthermore, wargaming allows participants to actively test and discuss historical context, strategic decisions, and the 'what ifs' of key battles.
By literally building and maneuvering the armies of the past, Paperboys transform history from a passive subject into an interactive and immersive learning experience.
